Political Economy Society

The Political Economy Society is an academic society for the department of Political Economy. Political Economy centres on the proposition that study of the modern economy economics requires an understanding of its historical, institutional, political, social and cultural contexts.

As a society we organise a range of Political Economy related events:

  • Beginning and end of semester drinks where we aim to bring people from the course (and anyone interest in political economy), together to chat about political economy (or not), and get to know each other in a casual setting.
  • Student Political Economy Review – website coming soon, email for submission guidelines.
  • 50th Anniversary of the Political Economy department is coming up, and the society will be getting involved in a number of events to celebrate this.

We have regular events planned for this year including political economy themed trivia nights, screening of related documentaries, informal talks given by PHD students/tutors and organising a society contingent to attend protests together.
