About Us

USU Student Board

Established in 1874, the University of Sydney Union (USU) is Australia's oldest and largest student union, evolving from a small society of ambitious student debaters to the largest service provider on campus.

We're a non-profit organisation dedicated to giving students a once-in-a-lifetime university experience. All profits from our commercial operations are directly invested back into our student programs and services.

We offer a huge range of co-curricular activities like our student leadership opportunitiesentertainment and our coveted Clubs and Societies Program, which boasts more than 200 groups on campus. We also throw amazing events throughout the year like our well-known festivals.
We now have more than 16,600 members. To become a USU member, get yourself an ACCESS Membership at the ACCESS Desk, Level 1, Manning House or online. You’ll be rewarded with discounts at more than 40 locations on campus and even more locations off campus, and access to a world of fun outside of the classroom.

The USU is committed to promoting gender equality and practices an affirmative action policy

Acknowledgement of Country

The University of Sydney Union acknowledges the Cadigal People of the Eora Nation as the traditional owners of the land on which we are located. The USU recognises that the land belonging to these peoples was never ceded, given up, bought, or sold and the actions the USU takes throughout its daily routines must always include consultation with community and members of the Aboriginal race when dealing with Indigenous Affairs. We pay our respects to the Aboriginal Elders both past and present and extend this acknowledgement to any other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people here with us. (This acknowledgement to Country is endorsed by the Wirriga Society USYD).
