At the USU we’re MAD about the little things, that add up to something BIG.

We’re MAD about partnering for a purpose, and MAD for real results.

We’re MAD about supporting the supporters and MAD for the greater good.

We’re MAD one step at a time and in it for the long-run.

MAD is the USU’s new charity and fundraising program to engage a purpose driven generation in creating a culture of giving at USYD and beyond. MAD is about “Making A Difference”, by providing students with the opportunity to volunteer and participate in a range of fundraising activities across USU events, spaces and programs on campus.

The MAD program will:

         -  Raise funds for two selected charity partners that focus on education, youth or research.

         -  Provide volunteer opportunities for students.
         -  Deliver a matched giving program where the USU will match funds raised by students and staff.

Clubs, students and staff will have the opportunity to vote on their preferred charity focus of education, youth or research via an online poll below. Alternatively students and staff can submit a specific charity to be invited to apply as an official charity partner of the USU, by emailing

The two official charity partners will be selected by a panel made up of students, staff and board members and will be announced at the MAD charity launch on 6 April.
